A complete guide to booking your driving theory test and practical test with the Department of Road Transport and Safety.

What is DRTS?

The Department of Road Transport and Safety (DRTS) is the government body responsible for issuing driving licences, vehicle registration, and road safety in Botswana. All learner's licence applications and driving test bookings go through DRTS offices located across the country.

How to Book Your Test

Gather your documents

Omang (National ID), two passport photos, completed DL1 form, and eye test certificate from a registered optometrist.

Visit your nearest DRTS office

Submit your application and documents in person. Note: online booking is not yet available at all offices.

Pay the testing fee

Payment is required at the time of booking. Keep your receipt as proof.

Receive your test date

You'll be assigned a test date based on availability. The theory test is conducted on a computer at the DRTS centre.
